Description For Product Design Engineer – Customer Terminals, Kuiper CT PD

Project Kuiper is Amazon's ambitious initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites, aimed at providing high-speed broadband connectivity to underserved communities worldwide. As a Product Design Engineer in the Customer Terminals team, you'll be at the forefront of developing innovative consumer products for the Kuiper program. The role combines mechanical engineering expertise with consumer product development, requiring deep technical knowledge in electromechanical systems, manufacturing processes, and design optimization.

You'll work with an experienced cross-disciplinary team, taking ownership of multiple system components from conception to market launch. The position demands strong mechanical fundamentals, expertise in manufacturing processes, and the ability to make critical design decisions that balance performance, cost, and schedules. Responsibilities For Product Design Engineer – Customer Terminals, Kuiper CT PD

  • PD Direct Responsible Individual (DRI) for multiple system components
  • Work with cross functional team to solve difficult electromechanical problems
  • Identify key design constraints and priorities
  • Deliver robust, flexible, durable, and performant designs
  • Communicate with PD members, cross functional teams, and executives
  • Create scalable solutions while solving tactical problems

Requirements For Product Design Engineer – Customer Terminals, Kuiper CT PD

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related fields
  • 3+ years of experience in product design (consumer, medical, telecom, etc)
  • 3+ years of experience with 3D CAD modeling & 2D drawing creation
  • Experience with designing for high volume manufacturing and assembly processes
  • Experience performing tolerance analysis and statistical analysis techniques
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or refugee/asylee due to export control laws
