Description For Project Engineer, Data Center, Data Center Construction

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Data Center Project Engineer to join their team responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS global infrastructure. This role is crucial in supporting the construction of industry-leading, energy-efficient data centers that directly impact AWS customers. As a Project Engineer, you'll work alongside Operations, Networking, Controls, Security, and Commissioning teams to build and maintain some of the world's most sophisticated electrical and mechanical systems.

The position offers a unique opportunity to be part of Amazon's owner-operator model, where you'll be involved in everything from design review to construction execution. You'll be based on-site, managing communication coordination with vendors, overseeing information workflow, and handling document management including RFIs, change orders, and schedule updates.

The role requires strong technical expertise combined with project management skills. You'll be responsible for establishing communication across regional contractors, tracking design changes, reviewing procedures, and managing construction milestones. The ideal candidate should have experience in construction or engineering, with knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.

Responsibilities For Project Engineer, Data Center, Data Center Construction

  • Support construction of Amazon Data Centers
  • Daily interaction with construction managers and stakeholders
  • Coordinate communication across general contractors and internal teams
  • Develop and maintain tracking systems for design changes, RFIs, and change orders
  • Review MOPs (Method of Procedure) for detail, necessity, and risk
  • Manage vendor onboarding and badging
  • Monitor delivery of owner furnished material
  • Manage construction checklists including completion, safety, and quality checks

Requirements For Project Engineer, Data Center, Data Center Construction

Linux
  • A four-year degree in technical field (engineering, construction management) or trade school OR 4+ years related construction experience
  • 2+ years experience working in construction industry or engineering organization
  • Experience updating and managing construction data including milestone dates, RFIs, design changes
  • Experience with developing workflows and tracking systems across 3+ organizations/teams
