Description For Project Engineer, Data Center, DCC Communities

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We're the people who keep the cloud running, supporting all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to innovation.

As a Data Center Project Engineer, you'll be part of a creative, diverse team solving fascinating problems in constructing Amazon Data Centers. You'll work with partner teams like Operations, Networking, Controls, Security, and Commissioning to build industry-leading, energy-efficient, and cost-effective data centers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Establishing communication and coordination across general contractors, stakeholders, and internal teams.
  • Developing and maintaining tracking systems for design changes, RFIs, and change orders.
  • Reviewing MOPs (Method of Procedure) for detail, necessity, and risk.
  • Onboarding new vendors and managing project management software.
  • Monitoring delivery of owner-furnished material and compiling construction data.

You'll be on-site daily, interacting with construction managers and stakeholders, directly responsible for supporting the fast, high-quality delivery of data center construction. This role offers unique opportunities to own everything from design review to construction bidding, execution, and final hand-off to customers.

Responsibilities For Project Engineer, Data Center, DCC Communities

  • Establish communication and coordination across general contractors, stakeholders, and internal teams
  • Develop and maintain tracking systems for design changes, RFIs, and change orders
  • Review MOPs (Method of Procedure) for detail, necessity, and risk
  • Onboard new vendors for badging and orientation
  • Update project management software with milestone dates and documents
  • Monitor delivery of owner-furnished material to site
  • Compile and store construction data from vendors
  • Manage checklists including substantial completion checks, safety, and quality

Requirements For Project Engineer, Data Center, DCC Communities

  • Four-year degree in a technical field (engineering, construction management) or trade school OR 4+ years of related construction experience
  • 2+ years experience working in the construction industry or an engineering organization
  • Experience updating and managing construction data including milestone dates, RFIs, design changes, and change orders
  • Experience developing workflows and tracking systems across 3 or more organizations/teams
