Project Kuiper is Amazon's ambitious initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites aimed at providing high-speed broadband connectivity to underserved communities worldwide. As a Propulsion Test Engineer within the Kuiper Propulsion Team, you'll play a crucial role in developing and optimizing propulsion flight hardware test capabilities.

The position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge space technology, specifically focusing on electric propulsion systems. You'll be responsible for developing test capabilities for various propulsion subsystems, including PCBAs, feed systems, thrusters, cathodes, tanks, and integrated propulsion systems. The role combines hands-on technical work with strategic thinking about process improvement and efficiency.

Working within a dynamic, start-up-like environment, you'll collaborate with multiple engineering teams to develop automation solutions, perform complex testing, and contribute to root cause analysis of hardware failures. Responsibilities For Propulsion Test Engineer, Propulsion

  • Define and implement solutions to optimize and automate electric propulsion system testing
  • Develop test automation, data acquisition, and data analysis hardware and software
  • Perform root cause investigations for hardware and test failures
  • Work with hardware subsystem owners to ensure test coverage
  • Perform development testing and data analysis
  • Train operators in the execution of developed testing and processes

Requirements For Propulsion Test Engineer, Propulsion

Python
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years developing automation, data acquisition, or control software
  • 3+ years experience with electrical test equipment and data acquisition systems
  • 3+ years of developing or optimizing manufacturing or test processes
  • 3+ years investigating hardware failures or performing root cause analysis
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee/asylee due to export control laws
