Description For Propulsion Test Engineer, Propulsion

Project Kuiper is Amazon's ambitious initiative to launch a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) to provide fast, affordable broadband access globally. As a Propulsion Test Engineer within the Kuiper Propulsion Team, you'll play a crucial role in developing and optimizing propulsion flight hardware test capabilities. The position involves working with electric propulsion test infrastructure, developing new test capabilities, and improving existing frameworks for various propulsion subsystems including PCBA's, feed systems, thrusters, and integrated systems.

You'll be responsible for automating hardware testing, optimizing test software, and building additional systems for parallel testing. The role requires strong problem-solving skills to investigate root causes of hardware failures and balance process methodologies with schedule constraints. You'll work in a fast-paced, startup-like environment within Amazon's space initiative, collaborating with multiple engineering teams to improve test efficiency while maintaining the highest quality standards.

The Kuiper Propulsion Team offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge space technology with direct impact on global connectivity. The team structure promotes direct communication and rapid process feedback, allowing for close collaboration across different specialties including mechanical design, systems engineering, manufacturing, and testing.

This position requires a combination of technical expertise in propulsion systems, software development skills, and strong analytical capabilities. The ideal candidate will have experience with Python or similar programming languages, electrical test equipment, and a background in aerospace testing environments. The role offers competitive compensation based on location and experience, along with Amazon's comprehensive benefits package.

If you're passionate about space technology, have a strong background in test engineering, and want to contribute to a project that will help bridge the digital divide globally, this role offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact.
