Description For Quality Operations Manager, Project Kuiper

Project Kuiper is Amazon's ambitious initiative to revolutionize global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). This role presents an exceptional opportunity to join as a Quality Operations Manager, leading a critical team in the manufacturing quality assurance process.

The position combines strategic leadership with hands-on quality management in an aerospace manufacturing environment. You'll be responsible for developing and leading a team of quality professionals, implementing robust inspection processes, and ensuring compliance with aerospace quality standards. Working a 4x10 schedule (Wednesday-Saturday, 2PM-12AM), you'll oversee daily quality inspection operations and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Key aspects of the role include managing the Quality Inspection Center, leading Lean and 5S activities, conducting root cause analyses, and participating in Material Review Board activities. You'll be instrumental in developing and maintaining quality management systems while working closely with assembly technicians, engineering teams, and other stakeholders.

The ideal candidate brings substantial experience in aerospace or automotive quality management, with a proven track record of leading inspection teams in R&D manufacturing environments. You should be comfortable working in ambiguous situations, making quick decisions, and driving data-driven improvements.

This role offers competitive compensation ($100,000-$150,000 base salary) plus additional benefits including equity, sign-on payments, and comprehensive medical coverage. You'll be joining at an exciting time as Project Kuiper scales aerospace quality to new volumes and cost levels to meet end customer needs.

Due to export control requirements, candidates must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or legally admitted refugees/asylees. This position offers the unique opportunity to contribute to a project that aims to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities worldwide while working with cutting-edge aerospace technology and quality systems.
