Description For Regional Automation Engineer, NASC AE

Amazon's Reliability, Maintenance, and Engineering (RME) team is seeking a Regional Automation Engineer to join their dynamic team. This role combines technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, focusing on maximizing equipment reliability and operational performance in Amazon's fulfillment centers. The position involves working with sophisticated automation systems including conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, and SCADA devices.

As a Regional Automation Engineer, you'll serve as a technical leader and mentor, supporting site Automation Engineers while working closely with multiple teams including Operations, Engineering, and Safety. You'll be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting complex material handling control systems, including PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks. The role requires both hands-on technical work and strategic thinking to optimize systems and implement improvements.

Responsibilities For Regional Automation Engineer, NASC AE

  • Coordinate and plan work activities for site Automation Engineers
  • Work with Operations, Engineering, FC Start up Team, and Safety teams
  • Maintain and troubleshoot material handling control systems
  • Monitor MHE metrics and analyze system performance
  • Provide first level escalation support for site Automation Engineers
  • Mentor Automation Engineers within assigned Region
  • Facilitate Failure Analysis and Incident Review processes
  • Perform and analyze building System Assessments
  • Partner with operations leadership and vendors for new technology installations
  • Communicate technical issues and project timelines with stakeholders

Requirements For Regional Automation Engineer, NASC AE

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, engineering technology or equivalent
  • 4+ years of PLC programming experience
  • 2+ years of experience with PLC-controlled automation
  • 2+ years of experience with robotics work cells and control systems
  • 2+ years of experience with Ladder Logic and structure programming
  • 2+ years of experience with electrical theory and automated equipment
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays
