AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Regional Safety Engineer to join their team in Sydney, Australia. This role is crucial in maintaining the safety and compliance of AWS's global infrastructure operations. The position involves implementing safety standards, managing risk assessments, and ensuring regulatory compliance across data center operations. The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of experience in compliance program management or related fields, with strong knowledge of safety regulations.

As part of AWS Infrastructure Services, you'll work with a diverse team of professionals who are responsible for keeping the cloud running. You'll collaborate with internal teams and external partners to enhance safety operations, develop emergency response plans, and create benchmarking metrics. Responsibilities For Regional Safety Engineer, Data Center Health and Safety

  • Implement safety standards, policies and practices including safety management systems, training, and risk assessments
  • Collaborate with other groups within Amazon and outside vendors
  • Ensure compliance and implementation of global safety programs and local regulatory legislation
  • Develop safety plans for on-site emergencies and special events
  • Perform safety data analysis and create benchmarking
  • Ensure safety recordkeeping and provide accurate reporting
  • Consult with legal for safety regulations interpretations and investigations
  • Develop and implement solutions to eliminate exposure risks and prevent injury
  • Support safety operations in Sydney and potentially other states or countries

Requirements For Regional Safety Engineer, Data Center Health and Safety

  • 4+ years of compliance program management, legal, governance, audit, risk/loss prevention, or equivalent experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Knowledge of local safety and health regulatory law
  • Experience with workplace safety investigations
  • Experience dealing with local regulators
