As a Senior Mechanical Hardware Development Engineer at Amazon Robotics (AR), you will be a technical project leader who designs and delivers complex integrated robotic hardware solutions that have broad influence on the Amazon business and customers. You will develop innovative hardware designs for emerging robotic systems and improve existing hardware to optimize performance and enhance customer experience.

Key responsibilities include:

• Working with an interdisciplinary team to execute robotic work cell product designs from concept to production
• Designing and adapting holistic hardware solutions for ambiguous problems with fluid requirements
• Designing and integrating industrial automation and motion control systems into functional work cells
• Performing mechanical systems analysis using FEA and traditional hand calculations
• Validating concepts through engineering models and prototypes
• Creating design documentation and releasing products following defined ECO process
• Collaborating with software engineers to understand design tradeoffs
• Specifying industrial automation components
• Working with various teams for smooth product launch and sustainment

You will interface with internal and external customers, solve challenges in designing state-of-the-art robotic work cells, and collaborate across development teams. Time management is crucial in this fast-paced environment.

Required Qualifications:

• BS in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics Engineering or similar
• 8+ years of experience in Robotics or Mechatronic Systems with full product lifecycle experience
• Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and electrical circuits
• Experience with CAD, GD&T, and fabrication techniques
• Strong communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in complex robotic or mechatronic product design
• Proficiency with SolidWorks or similar CAD software
• Experience with FEA tools and PLM tools
• Basic experience with embedded/firmware programming
