The AWS Cloud Security Response team is at the forefront of protecting AWS Cloud services and ensuring the security of millions of customers worldwide. This role combines technical expertise in security with strategic thinking to drive automation and scalability improvements.
As a Security Engineer in the Cloud Response team, you'll be part of AWS Security Operations, working on the AWS side of the Shared Responsibility Model. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve triaging security issues across 200+ AWS products, engaging with various stakeholders from service teams to AWS Security Leadership, and driving security improvements at massive scale.
The position operates in a "follow-the-sun" model across global locations, ensuring 24/7 security coverage. You'll receive handoffs from global peers and manage various in-flight security issues, requiring quick learning and adaptation across different AWS services. The role demands strong communication skills, as you'll interact with multiple stakeholders, including service teams, AWS Security Leadership, Legal, and service team leadership.
Key aspects of the role include:
- Assessing and prioritizing security issues based on risk levels
- Driving remediation efforts with internal teams
- Developing and improving security tooling
- Participating in on-call rotations
- Mentoring junior staff and knowledge sharing

- Strong background in information security
- Experience with systems, network, and application security
- Scripting/coding abilities

Requirements For Security Engineer, AWS Security Cloud Response
- BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or 3+ years' equivalent technology experience
- 3+ years of proven experience with systems, network, and/or application security
- 2+ years of scripting/coding experience in any language
- Experience with AWS products and services
- Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
- Ability to assess technical vs. business risks
- Knowledge of network and operating system security, cryptography, software security
