Amazon Vulnerability Management and Remediation (VMR) is seeking a Security Engineer for their Vulnerability Discovery Operations team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with leading industry security experts and engage across Amazon teams and leadership. The position involves hands-on work in proactively identifying and remediating security issues across Amazon's global infrastructure.
The successful candidate will join a data-driven team responsible for the discovery, assessment, triage, and remediation of vulnerabilities throughout Amazon's diverse technical ecosystem. Working with an international team of security engineers, software developers, and technical program managers, you'll contribute to maintaining and improving Amazon's security posture.
Key responsibilities include managing global vulnerability discovery tools, extending services to new teams, providing technical support, and participating in on-call rotations. The role requires strong technical expertise in security engineering, programming skills in languages like Python or Java, and experience with cloud-based services.

Responsibilities For Security Engineer, Vulnerability Management and Remediation Operations
- Hands-on operations and maintenance of Amazon's global vulnerability discovery tools and infrastructure
- Extend vulnerability discovery services to new teams and technologies
- Help customers and partner teams with vulnerability discovery services
- Improve discovery services and processes
- Periodic on-call responsibilities
Requirements For Security Engineer, Vulnerability Management and Remediation Operations
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS and TCP/IP
- 5 years security engineering experience in system, network, and/or application security
- 5 years experience developing vulnerability assessment tests with Python or Java
- 5 years experience improving accuracy of vulnerability detection mechanisms
- 3 years experience troubleshooting networking, operating systems, applications, or cloud services
- 3 years experience building cloud-based services
