AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We're looking for a Sr Air Quality Engineer to join our diverse team of environmental compliance professionals. You will play a key role in air permitting and air quality compliance for new and existing AWS facilities in the Americas (AMER) region.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing air permitting work in AMER, including preparation of air permit applications
- Managing contracts and relationships with environmental consultants and testing firms
- Prioritizing and managing multiple technically complex assignments concurrently
- Representing Amazon with governmental agencies and throughout the company
- Reviewing environmental permitting requirements for new power generation technologies
- Identifying permitting implications of power generation and supply to data centers
- Working collaboratively with various teams on large scale projects
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong track record of air quality engineering solutions and air permitting in North America
- Experience with Title V, NANSR, and PSD air permitting in the US
- Experience with data center permitting and compliance
- Ability to deliver multiple high priority projects simultaneously
- Strong advocacy for air quality compliance and sustainability

Compensation: Base pay ranges from $125,400/year to $239,300/year, depending on geographic market and other factors. Amazon offers a total compensation package that may include equity, sign-on payments, and a full range of benefits.
Responsibilities For Senior Air Quality Engineer, AWS Environmental
- Manage air permitting work in AMER
- Prepare air permit applications for new construction, modifications, amendments, and renewals
- Manage contracts and relationships with environmental consultants and testing firms
- Manage regulatory agency interactions
- Prioritize and manage multiple technically complex assignments concurrently
- Represent Amazon at appropriate levels with governmental agencies
- Review environmental permitting requirements for new power generation technologies
- Identify permitting implications of power generation and supply to data centers
- Work collaboratively with various teams on large scale projects
Requirements For Senior Air Quality Engineer, AWS Environmental
- BA/BS degree in chemistry, chemical or environmental engineering, atmospheric science or related field
- 6+ years of experience with air quality regulatory assessments and air emissions evaluations
- 6+ years of experience with air permitting at local, state, and federal levels
- 6+ years of experience with air dispersion modeling analyses (AERMOD)
- 6+ years of experience with engine specific regulations including 40 CFR 63 Subpart ZZZZ and 40 CFR 60 Subpart IIII
- Experience with Title V, NANSR, and PSD air permitting in the US
- Experience with data center permitting and compliance
