Description For Senior Automation Engineer

Amazon's Operations team is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to join their Reliability & Maintenance Engineering (RME) team. This role is crucial in maximizing equipment reliability and operational performance in Amazon's fulfillment centers. You'll work with state-of-the-art technology including conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, and SCADA systems. The position requires expertise in troubleshooting complex control systems, analyzing performance metrics, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. You'll mentor junior engineers and lead cross-functional teams to optimize material handling equipment (MHE) systems.

The role combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering work, requiring deep knowledge of PLC-controlled automation, robotics work cells, and control systems. You'll be responsible for maintaining automation systems critical to operations, collaborating with various teams, and ensuring optimal performance of material handling systems. Responsibilities For Senior Automation Engineer

  • Serve as the site expert for maintaining automation systems critical to operations
  • Collaborate with building Operations, Engineering teams, and Safety to support MHE systems optimization
  • Maintain and troubleshoot material handling control systems
  • Monitor MHE metrics and address system performance issues
  • Provide second-level escalation support to site technicians
  • Facilitate Failure Analysis and Incident Review processes
  • Perform and analyze building System Assessments
  • Communicate technical issues and project timelines to stakeholders

Requirements For Senior Automation Engineer

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, engineering technology or equivalent, or 5+ years of professional experience
  • 2+ years of experience with PLC-controlled automation
  • 2+ years of experience with robotics work cells and control systems
  • 2+ years of experience with Ladder Logic and structure programming
  • 2+ years of experience with electrical theory and automated equipment
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays
