Description For Senior Business Intelligence Engineer, Amazon Inbound Transportation

Amazon Inbound Transportation Business Intelligence (AIT BI) is seeking a passionate candidate to leverage data for actionable insights that impact business decisions and improve customer experience. This Senior Business Intelligence Engineer role offers the opportunity to influence and drive a growing business area within Amazon's transportation network.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and leading design and execution of reporting solutions for Environmental and Sustainability Solutions
  • Collaborating with product managers, data engineers, data scientists, and software engineers to define reporting needs
  • Building self-service tools and dashboards for aggregated metrics and granular data analysis
  • Performing deep-dives and data analysis, providing recommendations on new metrics or business decisions
  • Mentoring teammates and leading cross-org discussions

The role involves partnering with the Cargo Integration & Recovery Services team to define, develop, and manage the cross-functional cargo recovery strategy for U.S. domestic inbound transportation. The successful candidate will identify gaps and opportunities for improvements, keep stakeholders informed, and collaborate with diverse teams across all regions and transportation modes.

This position requires strong technical skills, including experience with SQL, AWS technologies, and programming for large data set manipulation. The ideal candidate will have a background in data science, machine learning, and information retrieval, as well as experience working directly with business stakeholders and communicating results to senior leadership.

  • 5+ years of SQL experience
  • Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets
  • Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results
  • Experience with AWS technologies
  • Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills
  • Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining
