Description For Senior Business Intelligence Engineer, Supply Chain, Placement Analytics

The Supply Chain S&OP team at Amazon is seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer to contribute to defining and building inventory placement success metrics. Your role will involve finding ways to reduce distance to customers by strategically placing items in Amazon buildings, aiming to increase delivery speed and reduce costs. You'll be responsible for analyzing complex data, streamlining processes, and identifying improvement opportunities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and owning metrics for measuring inventory placement performance
  • Recommending improvements to placement strategy using modeling and large datasets
  • Pioneering new ideas to increase speed and reduce delivery costs
  • Piloting and implementing recommendations through smart configurations in Amazon systems
  • Developing analytics to visualize opportunities and measure progress
  • Partnering with worldwide technical teams to develop new features

This role offers a unique view of Amazon's systems, processes, and operations, involving interactions with planning teams, fulfillment centers, and global technical teams. You'll have the opportunity to chase defects, leaving no stone unturned in the pursuit of delighting customers with wider selection.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 10+ years of professional or military experience
  • 5+ years of SQL experience
  • Proficiency in programming to handle large (multi-TB) datasets
  • Experience with AWS technologies and scripting for automation (e.g., Python)
  • Knowledge of information retrieval, data science, machine learning, and data mining
  • Strong communication skills to present findings to different levels within the company

Amazon offers a competitive compensation package, including a base pay range of $117,300 to $202,800 per year, depending on the geographic market. Additional benefits may include equity, sign-on payments, and a full range of medical and financial benefits.
