Description For Senior Embedded Software Engineer, Project Kuiper Terrestrial Applications

Project Kuiper is Amazon's ambitious initiative to revolutionize global connectivity through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). This role is crucial in developing embedded software for Customer Terminal devices that will connect users to the Kuiper network. As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of bringing fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities worldwide.

You'll work with cutting-edge technology, developing embedded software using Linux and custom Silicon. The position requires expertise in embedded systems, real-time software development, and networking protocols. You'll lead and mentor a team while collaborating with hardware, product, and operations teams to deliver exceptional customer experiences.

The role offers competitive compensation ranging from $151,300 to $261,500 annually, depending on location, plus additional benefits including equity and sign-on bonuses. You'll be part of the Kuiper Customer Terminal Software Team, working on groundbreaking technology that will help bridge the digital divide globally.

Responsibilities For Senior Embedded Software Engineer, Project Kuiper Terrestrial Applications

  • Develop embedded software for Customer Terminal devices within the Project Kuiper system
  • Participate in all phases of SDLC including requirements gathering, design, code, test, and code/test coverage
  • Write drivers for peripherals and interfaces such as I2C/I3C, SPI, UART, GPIO
  • Work closely with hardware teams to support board bring-up and integration testing
  • Mentor software engineers on best practices
  • Guide software designs from requirements gathering through mass production

Requirements For Senior Embedded Software Engineer, Project Kuiper Terrestrial Applications

Linux
Rust
  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee/asylee due to export control laws
  • Experience with embedded software development
  • Knowledge of real-time embedded software practices
  • Expertise with Linux and RTOS
  • In-depth experience with networking
  • Familiarity with cryptography, threat modeling, and secure SDLC
