Amazon Web Services (AWS) Hardware Engineering team is at the forefront of creating cutting-edge compute, storage, accelerator, and enterprise servers that power Amazon's innovative web services. As a Server Hardware Engineer on the Edge and Specialized Hardware team, you'll play a crucial role in designing and implementing next-generation servers that serve over a million AWS customers.

The position offers a unique opportunity to work on industry-leading hardware solutions, combining deep technical expertise with strategic vision. You'll be responsible for the entire product lifecycle, from concept and design to production and deployment at scale. Working with cross-functional teams, you'll tackle challenges across server/board design, thermal-mechanical systems, firmware/software integration, and manufacturing.

This role demands a blend of technical excellence and leadership, as you'll guide teams in improving key metrics like total cost of ownership, quality, reliability, and performance. You'll collaborate with internal development teams and external suppliers, ensuring the delivery of servers with industry-leading performance and quality. The team environment is fast-paced and collaborative, comprising Hardware Design Engineers, System Design Engineers, Software Development Engineers, and Technical Program Managers. Responsibilities For Senior Hardware Development Engineer, ESH - Edge and Specialized Hardware

  • Design and build next-generation servers and AWS specific hardware components
  • Integration of hardware/software components to build servers
  • Work with service teams to define products
  • Support operations in all server locations
  • Deliver functional block diagrams, schematics, and specifications
  • Lead cross-organizational teams to improve cost, quality, reliability, and performance
  • Work with internal teams, suppliers, and external partners
  • End-to-end ownership from concept to operation in fleet

Requirements For Senior Hardware Development Engineer, ESH - Edge and Specialized Hardware

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in server level design for compute, storage, accelerator segment
  • 7+ years experience leading ODMs and suppliers in product development
  • Experience in developing functional specifications and design verification plans
  • Experience in board and server root cause analysis and resolution
  • Proficient in Linux operations commands
  • Experience with hardware and software development
