The AWS Hardware Supply Chain Security (HSCS) team is seeking a Senior Hardware Security Engineer to lead their global hardware supplier and manufacturing security program. This role combines technical expertise in hardware security with strategic oversight of supply chain operations. You'll work with a worldwide team to assess and mitigate risks in partner manufacturing and logistics, while developing new defense mechanisms and analyzing emerging threats.
The position offers a unique opportunity to shape the security future of AWS's hardware infrastructure. You'll be responsible for conducting risk assessments, performing forensic analysis on hardware from the AWS supply chain, and establishing security controls for manufacturing environments. This encompasses both physical security (cameras, storage areas) and digital security (manufacturing networks, SDLC, image source control).
The ideal candidate brings substantial experience in technical equipment manufacturing operations and understanding of supply chain business dynamics. You'll collaborate with security professionals across Amazon, supplier teams, and data center operations to maintain supply chain integrity. Responsibilities For Senior Hardware Security Engineer, Hardware Supply Chain Security Team (HSCS)
- Assess and prioritize security findings and recommend appropriate mitigations
- Perform hands-on threat modeling, risk assessment, and manufacturing security validation
- Provide security training and outreach to internal teams and external supply chain partners
- Travel as needed to provide insight and feedback to suppliers and data centers around the world
- Mentor and develop skills while guiding others to improve
- Assess risks to AWS originating at suppliers
- Provide direction to the AWS Security Hardware Lab
- Own the specification and shepherding of security requirements for hardware/firmware lifecycle processes
Requirements For Senior Hardware Security Engineer, Hardware Supply Chain Security Team (HSCS)
- Bachelors Degree or Equivalent Work Experience
- Familiarity with hardware and firmware development and deployment
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in hardware or supply chain security
- Experience in threat modeling and security risk analysis
- Experience in security or compliance assessment/auditing
- Knowledge of manufacturing systems or process control
- Understanding of physical facility or shipping logistics security
- Experience with IT security configuration and defense for enterprise server and network infrastructure
