Senior Network Development Engineer, Kuiper Enterprise Engineering

Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. As a Senior Network Development Engineer in Kuiper Enterprise Engineering, you will have end-to-end ownership of current and newly developing distributed systems for operating Kuiper within realistic IP networks virtual environments at scale. You'll build systems using the latest AWS technologies, leveraging best-in-industry software engineering practices.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the design and evolution of highly available hyper-scale networks
• Defining and influencing strategy within and outside the team
• Leading project teams to deliver impactful benefits to customers
• Working closely with network engineers and software developers to automate network deployment and operations
• Driving operational excellence projects to improve network performance and reliability
• Troubleshooting complex problems and developing innovative solutions
• Hiring, mentoring, and coaching engineers
• Supporting off-hours operations escalation pager rotation

You will be responsible for building, maintaining, and supporting the systems that Kuiper's research, development, and design teams rely on. This includes coordinating with researchers and engineers, working with vendors, customizing and integrating third-party software, and improving existing infrastructure to meet Amazon's high standards for operational excellence.

The ideal candidate will have experience in IP networking technologies, network design and operations, and automation scripting. A strong background in Linux/Unix environments and a Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline are required. Experience with cloud technologies, distributed systems, and a passion for solving complex networking challenges at scale are highly valued.
