Description For Senior Systems Engineer, Controls Fleet

Are you experienced in managing Windows and Linux environments with a passion for building and maintaining highly-available systems and services at massive scale? The Controls Fleet team at Amazon Web Services (AWS) is responsible for building and supporting some of Amazon's most important infrastructure services. We are seeking a passionate and motivated engineer to participate in a team of AWS Cloud Practitioners building Windows and Linux Systems at scale.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Systems development and support, including security patching, new system deployment, and account administration
  • Peer development of team members
  • Networking, including building robust, secure networks with Intrusion Detection
  • Metrics and projections
  • Advising development staff on application security
  • Host and network tools and implementations
  • Identifying security issues and risks, and developing mitigation plans
  • Architecting, designing, implementing, supporting, and evaluating secure, infrastructure-focused tools and services
  • Participating in security compliance efforts and projects that develop new intellectual property
  • Supporting critical infrastructure services that process millions of requests every minute
  • Participating in 24x7 on-call rotation

About the Team: AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

Work Environment:

Requirements For Senior Systems Engineer, Controls Fleet

  • 3+ years of experience building with AWS Cloud technologies
  • 3+ years of recent experience as a team lead
  • 5+ years of experience building scalable tools and scripts (Powershell, Python, Ruby, TypeScript, SQL, etc)
  • 5+ years of managing local and wide area networks with strong fundamentals (CompTIA Network+, CCNA)
  • Strong knowledge of operating systems and network fundamentals
  • Proficiency in at least two high-level scripting languages
  • Experience operating distributed systems
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to a wide range of tasks and technologies
