Description For SoC Systems Engineer, System Architecture

The Amazon Devices team is seeking a skilled SoC Systems Engineer to join their System Architecture team. This role is crucial in designing and developing consumer electronics products including Amazon Echo, FireTV, Fire Tablets, and Kindle. As a SoC Systems Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of defining system architectures for both existing and emerging product concepts.

The position requires deep technical expertise in hardware and silicon engineering, combined with strong communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams. You'll be responsible for making critical design decisions regarding edge-cloud compute partitioning, SoC selection, and overall compute architecture including CPU, DSP, GPU, and ML accelerators.

Working within Lab126 Hardware Architecture and Technology, you'll collaborate with diverse teams including Program Management, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, ML Science, and Product Design. The role offers the opportunity to influence next-generation silicon platforms and contribute to Amazon's innovative consumer electronics portfolio.

Key responsibilities include architecture feasibility analysis, technical specification development, and serving as a technical lead throughout the product development lifecycle. You'll also work closely with silicon and component suppliers to influence their roadmaps to meet Amazon's needs.

Requirements For SoC Systems Engineer, System Architecture

Linux
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields
  • Background in SoC/Silicon engineering, computer architecture, machine learning or embedded software
  • Strong understanding of heterogenous SoC architectures
  • Experience in driving architecture and design decisions for consumer electronics devices
  • Hands-on skills in software development (Python, C/C++, Java) or hardware development
  • Strong communication skills
