Our Software Development Engineers (SDEs) use cutting-edge technology to solve complex problems and get to see the impact of their work first-hand. Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians to conceive, design, and bring innovative products and services to market.
  • Design and build innovative technologies in a large distributed computing environment and help lead fundamental changes in the industry.
  • Create solutions to run predictions on distributed systems with exposure to innovative technologies at incredible scale and speed.
  • Build distributed storage, index, and query systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, low cost, and easy to manage/use.
  • Design and code the right solutions starting with broadly defined problems.
  • Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software.

Locations: The majority of our SDE roles are based in the Greater Seattle/Bellevue, WA, and Arlington, VA area. However, positions are available across multiple locations in the United States.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience with at least one modern language such as Java, Python, C++, or C# including object-oriented design.
  • Are 18 years of age or older.
  • Currently enrolled in or completed a Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, or majors relating to these fields.
  • Have an expected graduate date between October 2023 - September 2025 and/or graduated within the last 24 months.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience from a technical internship.
  • Are enrolled in an academic program that is physically located in the United States.
  • Experience in optimization mathematics such as linear programming and nonlinear optimization.
  • Experience with distributed, multi-tiered systems, algorithms, and relational databases.
  • Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions and adept at handling ambiguous or undefined problems as well as ability to think abstractly.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets, with base pay ranging from $99,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $200,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on factors including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon offers a total compensation package that may include equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
