Description For Software Development Engineer, Alexa Skills Kit

Join the Alexa Skills Kit team at Amazon and help build the future of voice-enabled experiences! We're looking for passionate software engineers to work on the Alexa Skills Kit that enables millions of developers to create skills for Alexa. You'll be part of the team that powers Amazon Echo and builds tier 1 services that enable the Alexa voice experience.

In this role, you'll design and implement critical systems that handle API communications between Alexa and third-party developers, working with cutting-edge technology including AGI and LLM services. You'll be responsible for creating scalable, secure, and low-latency services that power millions of Echo devices worldwide.

The Alexa Skills Kit (ASK) organization is dedicated to making Alexa more natural, accurate, conversational, and personalized. You'll join a close-knit team in Bellevue, WA, where you'll have the opportunity to make a significant impact on products used daily by millions of customers.

Your typical day will include morning huddles, design discussions, implementation work, and code reviews. You'll work with a collaborative team that pushes boundaries while maintaining a fun, supportive environment.   • Building software that runs with high quality on millions of Echo family devices
  • Taking a long-term view of architecture and proactively fixing deficiencies
  • Understanding business impact of systems and making technical trade-offs
  • Driving engineering best practices (Operational Excellence, Security, Quality)
  • Building consensus and finding the best way forward when confronted with discordant views
  • Contributing to professional development of colleagues
  • Designing and implementing low latency, highly secure, high available, low cost, scalable tier 1 services
  • Implementing operational best practices for Alexa Peak readiness

Requirements For Software Development Engineer, Alexa Skills Kit

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • Experience with design patterns, reliability and scaling of systems
