Software Development Engineer, Efficiency & Performance, Alloy

Amazon's Alloy team is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to join their central efficiency team, which drives significant cost savings across Amazon's vast ecosystem. As part of the new central Performance Engineering team, you'll work on expanding from hardware utilization to software optimization through profiling, library upgrades, and resource pool management. The scope includes both compute and storage resources, implementing sophisticated solutions for resource sharing, particularly for GPU resources.

The role requires strong technical expertise in performance optimization, system architecture, and scalable solutions. You'll be responsible for discovering and implementing efficiency improvements that can be applied across Amazon's entire software stack. This includes developing automated measurement systems, creating efficiency metrics, and driving goals for service teams.

Key responsibilities include designing highly available components, developing profiling tools, and leading technical initiatives that result in significant infrastructure cost savings. You'll work closely with teams across Amazon, providing technical leadership and mentorship while driving efficiency improvements.

The ideal candidate brings 3+ years of professional software development experience, strong system design skills, and a passion for optimization and efficiency. You'll need excellent collaborative abilities to work with various teams and stakeholders, from engineers to senior leadership.
