Description For Software Development Engineer, GuardDuty

Amazon GuardDuty is seeking a Software Development Engineer to join their Malware Detonation team in Seattle. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on a customer-facing threat detection service that protects applications and services running on AWS. The service leverages advanced data analytics and machine learning techniques to identify potential security threats.

As part of the GuardDuty team, you'll be at the forefront of building massively scalable and globally distributed security systems. You'll collaborate with researchers and security engineers to enhance detection capabilities for AWS services and customers. The team utilizes various Machine/Deep Learning algorithms to develop new malware detection features.

The role combines technical challenges with meaningful impact, as GuardDuty helps customers identify reconnaissance, suspicious access, stealthy discovery, attacks, and changes to security-critical settings. The service is designed with simplicity in mind - customers can simply turn it on and it begins working to identify threats and anomalies.

The position offers competitive compensation ranging from $129,300 to $223,600 based on location and experience, plus additional benefits including equity and sign-on bonuses. The team values work-life balance, with a light on-call rotation occurring only once every 2-3 months.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced engineers who want to make a significant impact on cloud security while working with cutting-edge technologies at AWS. The role offers growth opportunities through mentoring junior engineers and solving complex security challenges at scale.
