Software Development Engineer III, Alexa Connected Devices

We are seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to lead the development of Tier-1 Connectivity services which enable connectivity between Alexa enabled devices (Echo, Smart Home, etc.) and Alexa.

Key job responsibilities:

• Lead the design, development, testing and deployment of cross team projects
• Meet with stakeholders, drive execution, and mentor junior engineers
• Be an independent technical leader, capable of working on your own and guiding team members to navigate complex problems
• Lead and architect cloud services which will streamline connectivity between Alexa-enabled devices and Alexa Cloud
• Influence architecture across the Alexa ecosystem and play a pivotal role in designing the future of Alexa
• Lead projects to streamline team processes and create mechanisms to effectively deliver projects

A day in the life:

• Be the technical leader responsible for service design, development, and operations
• Brainstorm new ideas and work on forward looking architectures and design with Principal Engineers and other Senior Software Engineers
• Architect, analyze, design, develop, test, and deploy software features and fix defects
• Participate and lead in sprint planning and daily scrum, break down technical work, identify technical blockers, and navigate solutions
• Mentor team members
• Partner with managers and other technical leaders across the org to achieve a desired technical consensus
• Author docs to communicate vision, proposals and designs

About the team: The mission of the Alexa Connectivity teams is to deliver a low latency, low cost, highly reliable, and high scalable connectivity between Alexa enabled devices and Alexa Cloud. The changes we make improve the speed and reliability experienced by end customers when interacting with Alexa devices, and simplify experience for developers and rest of Alexa by abstracting the connection management from them. The team handles tens of billions of transactions per day.

This is a highly visible role to get in the inception phase, set up your team, transition the project, define the roadmap, build new features, and operate multiple tier-1 Cloud Services.
