Description For Software Development Engineer, Kuiper Government Solutions

Project Kuiper is Amazon's ambitious initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites, aimed at providing low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities worldwide. As a Software Development Engineer in the Kuiper Government Solutions team, you'll be at the forefront of developing critical APIs and interfaces linking Kuiper capabilities to US Government customers including NASA, DoD, and other National Security customers.

You'll be responsible for designing and maintaining software services for mission-critical space safety and sustainability applications, working with network topology and Software Defined Networking to develop solutions that automatically coordinate with external systems at scale. The role involves leading internal and vendor teams, ensuring systems meet both Kuiper and US Government performance requirements, and effectively communicating project status to stakeholders.

The position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a multi-disciplinary technology team focused on developing targeted and scalable solutions for satellite and ground applications. You'll be part of a team that's making space technology more accessible while serving critical national interests. The role includes competitive compensation ($129,300 - $223,600 base salary) plus comprehensive benefits, equity, and sign-on payments.

This position requires US citizenship due to government requirements and offers relocation benefits to Redmond, WA. You'll be working in a collaborative environment where you'll need to balance technical excellence with practical delivery, while maintaining high standards for security, reliability, and interoperability. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about space technology, government solutions, and building scalable software systems.
