Description For Software Development Engineer, Kuiper Payload Radio

Project Kuiper is Amazon's ambitious initiative to revolutionize global internet connectivity through a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites. As a Software Development Engineer in the Kuiper Payload Radio team, you'll be at the forefront of developing cutting-edge communication systems that will connect underserved communities worldwide.

The role focuses on architecting and developing the critical software systems that enable satellite-to-ground communication, including radio link connectivity between satellites, customer terminals, and ground-based internet gateways. You'll be responsible for essential functions such as commanding, telemetry, power control, hardware interfaces, and autonomous capabilities throughout each satellite's lifetime.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work on space-based systems design, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in satellite technology. You'll be part of a team tackling complex challenges in payload power management, hardware interfaces, operational state management, thermal management, and system resilience.

The compensation package is highly competitive, ranging from $129,300 to $223,600 based on location, plus additional benefits including equity, sign-on payments, and comprehensive medical coverage. This is an ideal role for an experienced software engineer passionate about space technology and looking to make a global impact.

The position requires strong technical expertise, with at least 3 years of professional software development experience and a solid background in system architecture. Due to export control regulations, candidates must be U.S. citizens, nationals, permanent residents, or admitted refugees/asylees.

Join Amazon's Project Kuiper team to help build the future of global internet connectivity while working with cutting-edge satellite technology in a challenging and rewarding environment.
