Description For Software Development Engineer, Project Kuiper

Project Kuiper is Amazon's ambitious initiative to revolutionize global connectivity through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). As a Software Development Engineer on the team, you'll be at the forefront of developing software applications and services for an advanced global telecom service. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and operating globally available distributed systems for managing and monitoring Kuiper's terrestrial devices.

You'll work with cutting-edge AWS technologies while following industry-best software engineering practices. The team is responsible for developing the frontend architecture and solutions for managing the complete customer lifecycle of telecom services, including critical components like identity management, subscriber services, billing systems, and customer support tools.

This is an exceptional opportunity for engineers passionate about making a global impact. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams including device software, satellite, networking, and security engineering teams. The role offers exposure to full-stack development, from frontend UI implementation to distributed systems architecture.

Responsibilities For Software Development Engineer, Project Kuiper

  • Design and implement globally available distributed cloud architectures
  • Participate in overall product strategy and UI presentation
  • Partner with device software, satellite, networking, and security engineering teams
  • Develop frontend architecture and solutions for managing customer lifecycle
  • Work on identity and account management, subscriber management services
  • Handle user provisioning, billing and payments, customer support tools
  • Manage offer management tools and customer metrics and analytics

Requirements For Software Development Engineer, Project Kuiper

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of design or architecture experience
  • Experience with design patterns, reliability and scaling
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or refugee/asylee due to export control laws
