Description For Software Development Engineer, Route 53

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Software Development Engineer to join the Route 53 team in Herndon, VA. Route 53 is AWS's highly available and scalable Domain Name System (DNS) service, operating in over 50 locations worldwide. The role involves working on critical infrastructure that keeps the cloud running, supporting all AWS data centers including servers, storage, and networking equipment.

The ideal candidate will work on challenging problems in DNS services, traffic management, AWS integrations, and health check capabilities. You'll be developing features that provide advanced functionality such as latency-based routing, Private DNS, Geo DNS routing, and DNS failover. The position requires strong technical skills as you'll be working on problems spanning databases, networking, distributed systems, numerical analysis, and security.

As part of the Route 53 team, you'll collaborate with software, hardware, and network engineers across AWS to deliver the highest standards for safety and security. The role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where you'll prototype ideas, instrument code, interact with customers, and develop new features.
