Description For Software Development Engineer, SCOT AIM Planning Capacity

The Amazon Capacity and Topology team is seeking a Software Development Engineer to join their innovative supply chain optimization division. This role is crucial in determining the placement, size, and type of Amazon's worldwide fulfillment facilities, from massive robotics-enabled centers to local Prime Now locations. The team develops proprietary systems using cutting-edge technologies in automated large-scale supply chain planning and optimization.

As a Software Engineer on this team, you'll work on sophisticated, intelligent, and self-learning models that manage Amazon's network capacity. Unlike companies using off-the-shelf solutions, you'll be involved in studying, designing, and building custom systems that meet Amazon's unique needs. The role offers an opportunity to work on high-impact projects that directly influence Amazon's global supply chain efficiency.

The position involves working with advanced mathematical models, data platforms, and the latest technology frameworks including AWS. You'll be part of a team that spends billions annually on facilities, expecting significant returns from the network built upon them. This is an excellent opportunity for engineers who want to expand their technical expertise while working on systems that are critical to Amazon's retail operations.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a multi-disciplinary environment, bringing strong software development skills and an interest in complex system architecture. You'll be responsible for creating innovative solutions for challenging capacity planning use cases, working with a team that's continuously pushing the boundaries of supply chain optimization technology.
