Description For Software Development Manager with Amazon AWS, Route 53

Amazon Route 53 is seeking a Software Development Manager to lead their Vancouver team in developing and managing DNS-based naming and routing services. This role offers an opportunity to work on a critical AWS service that powers Amazon retail operations and a significant portion of the Internet. Operating in over 50 locations worldwide, Route 53 provides advanced functionality including latency-based routing, Private DNS, Geo DNS routing, and DNS failover.

The ideal candidate will lead a team responsible for developing new features, improving traffic management, implementing AWS integrations, and enhancing health check capabilities. This position requires both technical depth and leadership skills to drive innovation in distributed systems.

The role offers a balanced work environment with flexible hours and a strong focus on work-life balance. The team values knowledge sharing, mentorship, and career development. On-call responsibilities are shared (one week every three months) with a focus on building fault-tolerant systems.

AWS promotes an inclusive culture with employee-led affinity groups and ongoing learning experiences. The compensation package includes a competitive base salary range of $171,400 to $286,200, plus equity, sign-on payments, and comprehensive benefits.
