Description For Software Engineer II, Fire TV Experience

Software Engineer for Fire TV Linear Catalog will help build next-gen, low-latency systems to ingest, store, refine and deliver content for Fire TV Browse and Discovery experiences around events, linear programming and live sports around the world.

Fire TV's core experience is highly engaging and innovative for VOD content today. It is how millions of people watch, share, and enjoy TV every day. The systems that power this experience are undergoing a substantial revamp to extend this much-loved content-forward experience to linear programming, live events and sports. Linear programming continues to be a very large and active form of content streaming and engagement by customers worldwide, even with the acceleration of cord-cutting. Sports accounted of 97 of the top-100 most watched broadcasts in the US in 2023.

As a Software Engineer, you will join a team dedicated to building highly scalable data processing and knowledge inference systems that process large data, produce insights and sculpt bespoke broad industry data presentations into a uniform and enriched digital media catalog. Your customers will be both third-party linear and sports data providers as well as Fire TV end users.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Creating and improving software for content ingestion, curation and aggregation for FireTV devices
  • Exploring and deploying technologies including machine learning, distributed data processing, and AWS-managed services
  • Contributing towards shaping the next-gen digital media catalog solution
  • Reviewing, scoping and collaborating with team members to prioritize features
  • Driving continuous improvements with the team's processes and practices
  • Mentoring junior engineers and participating in the hiring process
