This role combines engineering expertise with operational excellence to optimize and innovate Amazon's sophisticated fulfillment systems. As a Solutions Design Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing and developing engineering solutions for material handling challenges, considering both human and equipment interactions. You'll lead concept development efforts for the EMEA fulfillment network, working closely with various teams including Safety, Operations, and worldwide design teams.

The role requires a blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and strategic thinking. You'll be involved in everything from equipment specification and material flow to process design and site layout optimization. Responsibilities For Solutions Design Engineer, Operations Engineering

  • Own the design and development of engineering solutions for complex material handling challenges
  • Lead concept and design development efforts for EMEA fulfillment network
  • Work with vendors and suppliers to create innovative solutions
  • Manage high-visibility projects and tasks
  • Conduct post mortem on designs after implementation
  • Develop, document and update design standards
  • Build strong working relationships with key company partners
  • Collaborate with Fulfillment Center start-up and launch teams

Requirements For Solutions Design Engineer, Operations Engineering

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Industrial/Process Engineering or related STEM field
  • Extensive experience in Design/Innovation, R&D, Manufacturing/Process/Industrial Engineering
  • Experience with complex MHE and packaging lines or process design based on Lean Manufacturing
  • Experience using MS Excel, MS Project, and CAD software
  • Experience leading engineering design projects
  • Fluency in English (verbal & written)
  • Ability to travel up to 30%
