Description For Sr. Construction Cost Engineer, EMEA Construction Cost Control

The Data Center Construction Cost Control (CCC) team at Amazon is seeking a Sr. Construction Cost Engineer to join their highly creative and passionate team dedicated to deploying continuously evolving Amazon data center facilities. This role involves providing cost support, guidance, and recommendations to the Data Centre project delivery team to ensure cost management across a portfolio of fast-paced construction projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Engaging and managing third-party Quantity Surveyors
  • Validating construction cost estimates at various design stages
  • Working with multi-disciplinary teams, both internal and external
  • Communicating cost control goals to all stakeholders effectively
  • Identifying Value Engineering opportunities and quantifying savings
  • Identifying project risks and associated financial cost impacts
  • Updating repository for historical data
  • Defining and tracking cost performance metrics
  • Analyzing vendor proposals using AWS benchmark data
  • Creating accurate bid leveling documents
  • Validating final award amounts and scope
  • Implementing cost control, change management, and reporting processes
  • Validating construction change cost impacts
  • Ensuring accurate and timely vendor invoices
  • Supporting project close-out and final payments
  • Delivering results for multiple projects with competing priorities

The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience in construction cost control, knowledge of electrical, mechanical, or CSA cost elements, and experience with Data Center or mission-critical construction environments. A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering is required.
