Description For Sr. Data Engineer, Global Planning, Project Kuiper

Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. As the founding Data Engineer in Kuiper's Global Planning team, you will be responsible for building enterprise-grade data infrastructure and data assets to support Kuiper's Demand Science & Forecasting models and capacity planning & simulation systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing Kuiper data products, infrastructure, and ETL pipelines using AWS big data technologies
  • Collaborating with Data Scientists, Applied Scientists, Software Engineers, and Simulation Engineers
  • Improving existing solutions and developing next-generation Kuiper's Data Architecture
  • Implementing data governance best practices
  • Developing and maintaining scripts to automate processes
  • Building data dictionary, catalog, and governance plan

The ideal candidate should have:

  • 5+ years of data engineering experience
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
  • Proficiency in SQL and at least one modern programming language (Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS)
  • Experience mentoring team members on best practices

Preferred qualifications include experience with big data technologies and operating large data warehouses. This role offers a competitive salary range of $139,100 to $240,500 per year, depending on location and experience, along with equity, sign-on payments, and comprehensive benefits.
