Project Kuiper is Amazon's ambitious initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites providing high-speed broadband internet to underserved communities worldwide. As a Sr. Embedded Software Development Engineer, you'll be instrumental in developing the communication systems payload software that enables satellite connectivity with customer-terminals and ground-based internet gateways.
Your role involves architecting and implementing critical embedded software functions in C, C++, or RUST, working within embedded Linux or RTOS environments. You'll be responsible for controlling silicon devices using various communication buses (Interlaken SerDes, JESD, PCIe, I3C, I2C, SPI, etc.) and collaborating closely with hardware teams for board design and verification.
The position demands expertise in high-reliability embedded software development, ensuring system reliability and availability. You'll be working on payload functions including power management, hardware interfaces, command & telemetry, operational state management, and thermal management.
This is an opportunity to push the boundaries of space-based systems design, working on low-cost satellite avionics and communication systems. You'll be part of a team tackling complex challenges in satellite technology, participating in all development phases from requirements to operations.
The role offers competitive compensation ranging from $151,300 to $261,500 per year, varying by location, plus comprehensive benefits including equity and sign-on payments. This position requires U.S. citizenship or permanent residency due to export control regulations.
Join Amazon's Project Kuiper team to contribute to a groundbreaking initiative that combines cutting-edge technology with global impact, working alongside talented engineers in developing next-generation satellite communication systems.
