Description For Sr. Hardware Power Engineer, Power Technology

The Amazon Devices team designs and engineers high-profile consumer electronics, including the best-selling Kindle family of products, Fire tablets, Fire TV, Amazon Dash, and Amazon Echo. As a Senior Power Engineer, you will be responsible for owning the power and energy consumption models, provide inputs to power architecture, and conduct power consumption characterization on multiple projects. You will work closely with multi-disciplinary groups including Product Design, Industrial Design, Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Reliability and Operations, to drive key aspects of engineering of consumer electronics products.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Interacting with cross-functional engineering teams across the company
  • Diving deep into power-related issues and working with cross-functional teams to solve them
  • Participating in schematic and layout reviews
  • Addressing all aspects of power technology readiness, including manufacturability
  • Helping design and deliver innovative power technology to products
  • Conducting testing and optimization cycles of complex embedded systems in different use-cases
  • Writing/updating code to interface lab equipment to computers and writing scripts to automate testing

The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of power engineering, analog electronics, and microprocessor architecture. Responsibilities For Sr. Hardware Power Engineer, Power Technology

  • Own power and energy consumption models

Requirements For Sr. Hardware Power Engineer, Power Technology

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 7+ years of experience as a hardware or systems engineer
  • Experience with schematic and layout tools similar to OrCAD and Allegro
  • Experience with Lab Equipment such as Oscilloscopes, DC Analyzers and DAQ systems
  • Experience debugging power issues on embedded electronics devices
  • Experience using LDOs, SMPS and power distribution in embedded systems or power and energy consumption modelling and optimization
