Amazon's Rural and Rapid Logistics Design team (R2L) is seeking an experienced Industrial Designer to join their Design Engineering team. This role focuses on developing, designing, and delivering next-generation fulfillment, delivery, and transportation systems. The position involves driving process engineering, building design, and standardization across Amazon's Last Mile delivery network.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and optimizing the delivery and sortation network, ensuring operations processes meet safety, customer experience, quality, and cost goals. They will need to evaluate options from basic to automated solutions, providing data-driven support for their recommendations. The role requires creating and maintaining detailed drawings of material handling equipment, work areas, and storage equipment, as well as supporting future initiatives.

Responsibilities For Sr. Industrial Designer, SSD Design Engineering

  • Work with key stakeholders on criteria for design and expansion
  • Develop design and analytical models to show feasibility and operational cost
  • Generate and implement design process with focus on operational and safety criteria
  • Review design and supporting technical documents for approvals
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and optimization
  • Communicate and present technical documents/drawings
  • Project manage and communicate with stakeholders via BIM tools
  • Train and articulate standards across cross-functional teams
  • Travel 25% of the time

Requirements For Sr. Industrial Designer, SSD Design Engineering

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent industrial and operations background
  • 6+ years of engineering experience in industrial, logistics, distribution, fulfillment, manufacturing, architectural, robotics, production environment
  • Expert in AutoCAD, REVIT or any other CAD program
  • Experience in dealing with ambiguity, data analysis and analytical skills
  • Experience in solution optimization, value engineering, best fit analysis, process development
