AWS Utility Computing (UC) is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their Annapurna Labs team, focusing on designing and building critical systems for AWS's massive computing infrastructure. This role combines mechanical engineering expertise with cloud computing innovation, working on custom chips, accelerators, and software stacks that power AWS services.

The position offers a unique opportunity to work on groundbreaking technical challenges in AWS's hardware development sector. You'll be responsible for designing and implementing mechanical and thermal solutions for servers, racks, and data center systems that directly impact millions of AWS users worldwide.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you'll work with cutting-edge technology, designing everything from individual mechanical components to complete server and rack systems. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, including ODMs, heatsink vendors, and internal design teams, to develop and optimize thermal solutions under PPA and system design constraints.

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in mechanical and thermal design of systems, with proven expertise in both air-cooled and liquid-cooled systems. You'll need strong technical skills in thermal analysis, system design, and familiarity with industry-standard tools like Ansys Icepak, FloTherm, and Solidworks.

Responsibilities For Sr. Mechanical Engineer, Annapurna Labs

  • Design and build systems for world's largest computing infrastructure
  • Develop mechanical components from lowest levels to large system design
  • Design servers and racks through to high volume manufacturing
  • Work with ODMs, heatsink vendors, and internal design teams
  • Develop detailed specifications for product teams
  • Cross-boundary triaging, debugging, and resolving issues across organization

Requirements For Sr. Mechanical Engineer, Annapurna Labs

Linux
  • BS or MS degree in Mechanical/Thermal Engineering
  • 10+ years industry experience in Mechanical and Thermal design of Systems
  • Experience in thermal and performance measurements and characterization on SoCs, Servers, and Systems
  • 3+ years of experience Server level Mechanical and thermal design
  • Experience with System Mechanical & Thermal design for air-cooled and liquid-cooled systems
  • Hands on design with enterprise hardware sheet metal design, sled level design and Rack level designs
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with teams spanning multiple sites
