The Mechatronics & Sustainable Packaging Customer Experience (MSP CX) team at Amazon is seeking a Senior Operations Engineer to lead deployment and ramp-up initiatives. This role sits at the intersection of automation technology and operational excellence, focusing on transforming standalone work-cells into integrated solutions that are safe and efficient.
The position involves overseeing multiple products and programs, with a primary focus on deploying MSP solutions in both new and existing fulfillment centers. You'll be responsible for coordinating installations, commissioning systems, and ensuring optimal performance ramp-up. This role requires extensive travel (75% domestic, 5% international) and combines technical expertise with project management skills.
As a Sr. Ops Engineer, you'll work closely with hardware engineering, technical program managers, and internal customers to ensure successful product deployment and achievement of business requirements. You'll be responsible for driving continuous improvement in deployment cycle times while maintaining high standards for safety and quality.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automation, robotics, or material handling equipment, with proven experience managing large-scale projects. You'll need excellent communication skills to coordinate with cross-functional teams and the ability to influence decisions at the senior leadership level.

Responsibilities For Sr. Ops Engineer, Deployment & Ramp, MSP Customer Experience
- Manage development of project plans and technical solutions
- Influence decisions on deployment and machine performance execution strategy
- Own tactical planning on installation of complex cross-functional projects
- Own program/product strategy for annual planning of resources and budget
- Own communication of program execution and performance
- Coordinate and execute installation, commissioning, and performance ramp up
- Drive continuous improvement in deployment cycle time
- Build relationships and capture voice of the customer
- Manage contractors and vendors
Requirements For Sr. Ops Engineer, Deployment & Ramp, MSP Customer Experience
- Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred in engineering, mechanical, operations, supply chain, business administration, or equivalent STEM field)
- 5+ years of directly managing and responsible for multiple large projects experience
- Strong technical background in automated or non-automated material handling equipment
- Experience managing project portfolios, budgets and decentralized resources
- Ability to travel frequently up to 75% domestically and 5% internationally
- Experience with Microsoft Office products and CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360)
- Experience with procurement of equipment
- Experience in Robotics, Automation, distribution, manufacturing, logistics environments
- Experience leading cross-functional teams/projects
- Knowledge of Project management tools (PPM, Clarity, MPP or Jira)
