Amazon Robotics is seeking an exceptional Principal Applied Scientist to drive innovation in robotics and artificial intelligence. This role sits at the intersection of classical computer vision and cutting-edge machine learning, focusing on developing advanced perception systems for Amazon's fulfillment centers. The position offers an opportunity to work on high-impact challenges in robotics research, developing systems that can perceive, learn, and act intelligently alongside humans at Amazon scale.

The ideal candidate will lead technical direction for computer vision and machine learning initiatives, working with state-of-the-art technologies in areas such as self-supervised learning, multi-modal learning, and foundation models. They will collaborate with top-tier scientists and engineers to create robust, scalable robotic systems that push the boundaries of what's possible in industrial automation.

This role offers competitive compensation ranging from $240,100 to $350,000 per year, depending on location, plus additional benefits including equity and sign-on payments. The position is based in Seattle, WA, where you'll work with Amazon's world-class robotics team. You'll have the opportunity to influence the future of robotics while solving real-world challenges in areas such as scene understanding, simultaneous localization and mapping, closed-loop control, and robotic manipulation.

  • 10+ years of scientist or machine learning engineer management experience
  • Experience building state of the art machine learning models or developing algorithms
  • Strong publication record in top-tier conferences (CVPR, ICCV, NeurIPS, ICML, etc.)
  • Experience building complex software systems involving deep learning, machine learning and computer vision
