Description For Sr Software Dev Engineer, Amazon Tax Services

Amazon Tax Platform Services is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to join their team responsible for one of the world's largest transactional distributed systems. This role focuses on building and maintaining the core tax calculation services that handle sales tax and VAT for all Amazon sales globally. The platform processes thousands of calculations per second and must maintain perfect accuracy while adapting to complex, ever-changing global tax regulations.

The position offers an opportunity to work on highly scalable systems that manage hundreds of millions of records and handle millions of service requests per minute. You'll be part of a team that provides critical tax calculations for Amazon's global operations, ensuring correct tax amounts at order time and maintaining audit records to meet worldwide tax law requirements.

As a senior engineer, you'll contribute across the entire software development lifecycle, from design through deployment and operations. The role requires strong technical skills, particularly in Java, Linux, and Oracle environments, combined with excellent communication abilities and leadership experience. You'll mentor other engineers while working in an agile, fast-paced environment that prioritizes impactful deliverables.
