Project Kuiper is an ambitious initiative by Amazon to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites, aiming to provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities worldwide. As a Sr. Software Dev Engineer for Kuiper, you'll be at the forefront of developing core wireless and networking solutions for this advanced global telecom service.
Your role will involve designing and implementing the Software-Defined Networking (SDN) control plane that powers the Kuiper Network. This system spans both space and terrestrial networks, including LEO satellites, customer terminals, gateways, cloud services, and terrestrial network infrastructure.
Key responsibilities include: • Designing and delivering a modern, flexible, scalable, high-throughput, low-latency network architecture • Implementing Routing and Forwarding, Traffic Engineering, and SDN technologies • Developing highly-available software for networking control plane operations • Defining and automating processes for software development, testing, and maintenance • Providing operational excellence for control plane services
You'll be part of the SDN Agent team, which is building the brain driving the Kuiper Network. This role offers a unique opportunity to tackle complex problems presented by a dynamic network at a global scale, ensuring that customers have an unparalleled experience using the service.
The position requires a strong background in networking fundamentals, L2/3/4 technologies, routing and transport protocols. Experience with high availability, high-performance network design, and technologies such as MPLS, Segment Routing, and Traffic Engineering is preferred.
This is a chance to be at the heart of a groundbreaking project, combining satellite technology with advanced networking to bring internet connectivity to underserved areas around the world. Join Amazon's Project Kuiper and help shape the future of global communications.
