Description For Sr. Software Development Engineer, Kuiper Flight Software

Project Kuiper is an ambitious Amazon initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites, providing low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities worldwide. As a Sr. Software Development Engineer in the Kuiper Flight Software team, you'll be at the forefront of innovation in space-based systems design.

Your role will involve developing embedded software in languages like Rust, C, and C++, writing device drivers and system applications for various satellite systems, and interacting with micro-controllers. You'll work closely with other software and hardware teams to support board bring-up and integration testing.

The team you'll be joining is responsible for critical satellite functions including power management, hardware interfaces, command & telemetry, and autonomous control. You'll participate in all phases of software development, from requirements through implementation and testing to operations.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to solve challenging development problems in building highly reliable, power-efficient, and low-cost satellite avionics. Amazon offers a competitive compensation package, with base pay ranging from $151,300 to $261,500 per year, depending on the geographic market. Additional benefits may include equity, sign-on payments, and a full range of medical and financial benefits.

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
  • U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or lawful admission as a refugee or asylee due to export control laws
