Description For Staff Platform Engineer, Managed Operations

AWS Managed Operations (MO) is seeking a Staff Platform Engineer to join their team focused on reducing operational load and toil through long-term engineering projects. This role, created in April 2023, is part of AWS Utility Computing organization which provides foundational services like S3 and EC2. The position offers a unique blend of operational management and engineering innovation, where you'll spend half your time managing production systems and half implementing long-term improvements.

As a Staff Platform Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of operating and enhancing some of the largest software systems ever built. You'll work on critical infrastructure that powers AWS regions, focusing on availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency. The role involves complex problem-solving, from debugging deployment issues to designing and implementing system-wide improvements.

The position offers significant growth opportunities within AWS's innovative culture. You'll be part of a diverse team that values continuous learning and inclusion, with access to employee-led affinity groups and ongoing learning experiences. AWS provides strong work-life harmony and supports career development through mentorship and knowledge-sharing opportunities.

This role is perfect for experienced engineers who thrive on both tactical operations and strategic engineering work. You'll collaborate with various teams across AWS, contribute to critical infrastructure decisions, and have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on one of the world's largest cloud providers. The position includes relocation support within the EU and is based in Berlin, Germany.
