Description For Support Engineer, Chronicle

Amazon's Chronicle team within Selling Partner Services is seeking a Support Engineer to join their high-performance team working on the Turismo product suite, powered by Ripple, a PrestoDB-based query engine. This role combines software development and technical support to maintain and enhance systems that process massive amounts of retail business data.

The position offers an opportunity to work with petabytes of data from various sources, supporting a platform that serves 15k+ users globally and processes over 2M queries per week. You'll be responsible for building and maintaining systems that secure and govern data end-to-end, including access control, data quality tracking, dataset cataloging, and usage auditing.

As part of Amazon's retail business teams, you'll contribute to the technology that enables Amazon to offer the Earth's biggest selection while maintaining competitive prices. The role involves working with cutting-edge AWS technologies, solving complex scalability challenges, and collaborating with a diverse team including Product Managers, UX designers, TPMs, SDEs, DEs, and Data Scientists.

Responsibilities For Support Engineer, Chronicle

  • Provide support of incoming tickets, including extensive troubleshooting tasks
  • Work on operations and maintenance driven coding projects
  • Software deployment support in staging and production environments
  • Develop tools to aid operations and maintenance
  • System and Support status reporting
  • Ownership of one or more ETL products or components
  • Customer notification and workflow coordination
  • Maintain service level agreements
  • Work with support team for handing-off or taking over active support issues
  • Creating team specific knowledge base and skill sets

Requirements For Support Engineer, Chronicle

Python
Java
  • 2+ years of software development, or 2+ years of technical support experience
  • Experience scripting in modern program languages
  • Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems
  • Knowledge of web services, distributed systems, and web application development (preferred)
  • Experience troubleshooting & maintaining hardware & software RAID (preferred)
  • Experience with REST web services, XML, JSON (preferred)
