Description For Support Engineer, Chronicle

Amazon's Chronicle team within Selling Partner Services is seeking a Support Engineer to join their high-performance team. The role focuses on supporting the Turismo product suite, powered by Ripple, a PrestoDB-based query engine serving 15k+ users globally and processing 2M+ queries weekly. The position involves working with petabytes of data from various sources, ensuring data security, governance, and quality across multiple storage layers.

As a Support Engineer, you'll be instrumental in maintaining and enhancing systems that secure and govern data end-to-end, including access control, data quality tracking, dataset cataloging, and usage auditing. The platform runs entirely on AWS, offering cutting-edge engineering challenges and opportunities to work with state-of-the-art technologies.

The team has built a strong reputation within Amazon for delivering results and regularly researches new technologies to enhance scalability. You'll work alongside product managers, UX designers, TPMs, SDEs, DEs, and Data Scientists in a collaborative environment that values innovation and customer focus.

Responsibilities For Support Engineer, Chronicle

  • Provide support of incoming tickets, including extensive troubleshooting tasks
  • Work on operations and maintenance driven coding projects
  • Software deployment support in staging and production environments
  • Develop tools to aid operations and maintenance
  • System and Support status reporting
  • Ownership of one or more ETL products or components
  • Customer notification and workflow coordination
  • Maintain service level agreements
  • Work with support team for handling support issues and creating knowledge base

Requirements For Support Engineer, Chronicle

Java
Python
  • 2+ years of software development, or 2+ years of technical support experience
  • Experience scripting in modern program languages
  • Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems
  • Knowledge of web services, distributed systems, and web application development (preferred)
  • Experience troubleshooting & maintaining hardware & software RAID (preferred)
  • Experience with REST web services, XML, JSON (preferred)
