Description For System Development Engineer, Catalog Support and Programs

Amazon Selection and Catalog Systems (ASCS) is seeking a System Development Engineer to join their Catalog Support and Programs (CSP) team. This role is crucial in supporting the world's largest e-Commerce products catalog, which processes hundreds of millions of updates across billions of products. As part of the Services Support Team, you'll be responsible for providing critical support to ASCS Engineering teams, managing system vulnerabilities, and driving operational excellence.

The position offers an exciting opportunity to work with massively scaled distributed systems, applying technologies spanning parallel processing, storage, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, and Image Recognition. You'll be instrumental in maintaining and improving the systems that power Amazon's worldwide online buying experience.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who excels in ambiguous environments, possesses strong attention to detail, and can effectively work with data from multiple sources. You'll need excellent system/tool coding abilities and a solid understanding of AWS services. Responsibilities For System Development Engineer, Catalog Support and Programs

  • Handle all incoming system and service tickets across multiple products, features and services
  • Provide software deployment support in staging and production environments
  • Deliver maintainable solutions using appropriate technologies
  • Perform troubleshooting to resolve defects
  • Drive Company Wide Campaigns and manage Compliance risks
  • Build tools to improve operational efficiency
  • Monitor and setup new metrics and alarms for systems

Requirements For System Development Engineer, Catalog Support and Programs

  • Bachelor's or Master degree in Engineering or related field
  • Knowledge and experience in at least one modern programming language such as C, C++, Java, or Perl
  • Experience building tools for automation (building, testing, releasing or monitoring)
  • 1+ years of DevOps or SysOps in a large-scale software development environment experience
  • Strong debugging/troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of AWS services and concepts
  • Experience in software development lifecycle
