Description For System Development Engineer, Catalog Support and Programs

Amazon Selection and Catalog Systems (ASCS) is seeking a System Development Engineer to join their Catalog Support and Programs team. This role is crucial in supporting the world's largest e-Commerce products catalog, which processes hundreds of millions of updates across billions of products. As part of the Services Support Team, you'll be responsible for providing service level support to ASCS Engineering teams, managing system vulnerabilities, and driving root cause resolutions.

The ideal candidate will possess strong system/tool coding abilities and AWS services understanding. You'll work with diverse data sets and cross-functional teams to drive process improvement. The role demands excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to learn complex systems quickly, and strong communication capabilities to work effectively with engineering teams.

Key responsibilities include handling system and service tickets, supporting software deployments, delivering maintainable solutions, and ensuring compliance with company-wide campaigns. You'll be part of a team that powers the online buying experience for customers worldwide, working with technologies spanning parallel processing, storage, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, and Image Recognition.

Responsibilities For System Development Engineer, Catalog Support and Programs

  • Handle all incoming system and service tickets across multiple products, features and services
  • Software deployment support in staging and production environments
  • Deliver maintainable solutions using appropriate technologies
  • Learn and implement engineering best practices
  • Identify and scope problems, calculate costs of proposed solutions
  • Contribute to operational excellence and perform troubleshooting
  • Drive Company Wide Campaigns and maintain Compliance risks for ASCS systems

Requirements For System Development Engineer, Catalog Support and Programs

  • Bachelor's or Master degree in Engineering or related field
  • Knowledge and experience in at least one modern programming language such as C, C++, Java, or Perl
  • Experience building tools for automation (building, testing, releasing or monitoring)
  • 1+ years of DevOps or SysOps in a large-scale software development environment experience
  • Strong debugging/troubleshooting skills
