System Development Engineer-I, Amazon Pay

As a System Development Engineer-I for Amazon Pay, you will be required to deeply understand technology landscapes and evaluate the use of new technologies. You will be influential within your team and work with peers and senior leaders to define and revise the standards for operational excellence across Amazon Pay.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering logical, maintainable, and timely technology solutions
• Applying current engineering best practices
• Testing solutions and handling data in accordance with Amazon policies
• Participating in team discussions around design, scoping, and prioritization
• Identifying and addressing operational risks
• Helping train and mentor interns

You will be working on security initiatives and are responsible for driving and implementing solutions from a security perspective. This includes building tools, implementing strategic initiatives within engineering teams, and driving and governing security processes.

The ideal candidate should have:

• Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting infrastructure
• Programming experience with modern languages like Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, or Rust
• Experience with Linux/Unix
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
• Experience in strategic planning and decision-making
• Expertise in diagnosing and resolving complex operational issues
